Peripheral Module: EX-01.16U-PV MODBUS RTU
EX-01.16U-PV MODBUS RTU is an advanced peripheral module designed for continuous power control of resistive loads using external SSR relays. The module is ideal for self-consumption optimization systems of electricity generated by photovoltaic power plants and offers unique control modes to reduce flicker and electromagnetic interference.

⚡🔌 EX-01.16U-PV MODBUS RTU
EX-01.16U-PV MODBUS RTU is a specialized expansion module designed for precise control of up to 5 external SSR relays.
It enables continuous power control of resistive loads using Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) or phase-angle control modes.
Thanks to integration via the RS485 bus, it is a key component for efficient management of photovoltaic energy surpluses.
💼 Commercial overview
An ideal solution for energy management systems where maximum utilization efficiency of generated electricity is required.
The module allows software-based switching of SSR control modes, effectively reducing grid interference and flicker.
A major advantage is the ability to synchronize the measurement cycle with the utility billing meter, ensuring accurate consumption values consistent with the distributor’s measurements.
Additional high safety is provided by the MasterWatchdog function, which safely disconnects loads in the event of communication loss with the master system.
🧠 Master system and communication
The master system is always a control unit Fibaro HC3, HC3L, Yubii Home or Yubii Home Pro.
Communication is handled via the RS485 bus using the Modbus RTU protocol.
Important: Integration with the above controllers requires an RS485 → Modbus TCP converter.
The module is not freely programmable and does not contain autonomous logic – all control logic is handled by the master system.
🧩 Software layer (Requirements)
The basic control element is QA EX01 PV – a Quick App for the Fibaro/Yubii system used to control the EX01PV module itself.
To achieve a full-featured energy management system, additional specialized applications are required. The list below represents a typical example configuration:
- Irradiance forecast: QA PV Forecast (free) or Solcast (professional data).
- Control logic: QA Consumption Control – provides the surplus utilization algorithm.
- Optional: QA Spot Pro – for heating using favorable spot market prices.
- …and other Quick Apps according to your needs or specific installation requirements.
⚙️ Key features
